Direct Services

The Foundation will provide direct program services to individuals at SkillsNET Foundation Learning and Career Centers. The strategic targets for the centers will be under-served areas in Waxahachie and surrounding rural towns.  These centers will be located in churches or community centers as well as on Foundation campus. There are plans to re-fit a “people-mover” to serve as a mobile computer center to reach multi housing and rural areas where office space is not available. SkillsNET Foundation is also working with some international relief agencies to use the learning center model in developing nations. This project will only be pursued with designated gifts for that project and in collaboration with governmental or non-profit organizations. Some of the services to be provided in the centers are:

  • employability assessments and skills training to unemployed adults, at-risk youth, single mothers, low-income neighborhoods, and other at-risk populations
  • classes and services for foster care teens, which are aging out of foster care, to move towards independent living and employability by assessing their skills and abilities, monitoring internships, and providing mentors from the business community
  • after school access to computers and to computer training as well as teaching entrepreneurial and leadership skills to older youth
